A Conversation With Moonmoon

moonmoon on the green conversation with the green co.

For anyone who’s new to Moonmoon, can you tell us a little about who you are?

Moonmoon is a UK, female-founded brand on a mission to help households cut down on plastic and food waste in the kitchen. From reusable silicone bags to stainless steel lunch ware, we create practical swaps that support busy families, passionate home cooks, and anyone wanting to tread a little lighter on the planet.

Moonmoon celebrates home cooking and the joy of good food. What inspired you to create reusable products especially for food lovers and busy family kitchens?

As a lover of good food since my childhood, that passion has stayed with me as I’ve become a parent. When I started planning and preparing fresh, healthy meals for my kids, I became aware of how much plastic was being used in everyday food storage. I hated the waste and the impact it was having on the environment.

Instead, I wanted eco-friendly, reusable options that would help me meal prep more easily while still feeding my family wholesome food. That’s what inspired me to create products designed especially for food lovers and busy family kitchens - practical food storage options that make meal prep easier and more enjoyable.

Giving back is a big part of what you do. Can you tell us more about your partnership with One Tree Planted?

Absolutely. For us it’s key that as a business, we give back.  With One Tree Planted, we sponsor the planting of trees in areas that need restoration the most. It’s a simple, meaningful way to help rebuild habitats, support local communities and fight climate change. Our customers love knowing that their everyday choices have a direct positive impact through the planting of trees.

Your silicone recycling programme is such a fantastic initiative! How does it work and how does it help your customers reduce waste even further?

Silicone is wonderfully durable, but UK recycling options can be limited, so we have created our own solution. Through our Terracycle programme, customers can return their old or damaged moonmoon silicone products to us. We collect and send them for specialised processing, where the silicone is broken down and repurposed rather than ending up in landfill.  It closes the loop, keeps materials in circulation, and gives customers peace of mind that their well-used products continue to do good even at the end of their life.

With the new year here, many people are looking to make simple sustainable switches in 2026. What Moonmoon essentials would you recommend as the easiest first steps?

Start with the simple, everyday switches. They’re low-effort, but the impact on reducing waste is surprisingly big.

Perfect for leftovers, chopped fruit, packed lunches, and freezer storage. They are completely plastic-free and can safely be heated too.  They replace endless single-use plastic food bags and cling film.

A brilliant grab-and-go solution for work lunches, school meals, and meal prep.  Easy to clean, non-toxic and will last for years.

Easy replacements for cling film that keep food fresh without waste.  Watch this space for moonmoon lids – we will be launching them in 2026.

Each small change adds up quickly.  By investing in reusables like this, you will see a reduction in food waste and plastic use.  Wishing you a Green 2026!

A Conversation With The Green Co. Crew

To kick off the new year, I wanted to highlight some feel good news to take into 2026. Each show a greener future really is possible, and it's already happening.

🌍 Clean energy is powering up

For the first time ever, renewable energy became the world's biggest source of electricity in 2025. Solar and wind power are leading the charge, and it's proof that change is happening.

🍎 Food waste recycling is finally going mainstream

From March 2026, all homes in England will have food waste collections. Many councils have already starter rolling then out. More cadies in kitchens means less waste in landfills.

📦Businesses are backing sustainability for the long run

88% of companies now see sustainability as good for business, not just the planet. With more investment in greener practices, the future of business is looking cleaner too.

Here's to even more progress and good news in 2026. 💚
